Research suggests that taking cannabidiol (CBD) can influence a multitude of fascinating chemical functions, but how does it make you feel? “CB1 receptors also balance GABA and glutamate,” says Golden. “When there is an increase in glutamate, GABA decreases, which is one of the causes for increases in anxiety, depression, and insomnia.” Anecdotal evidence suggests that even as CBD may prove helpful in easing aches and pains, it may also offer relief from these common mental issues.
